Full-Day Specialized Birdwatching Walk

Thanks to its privileged location, Monteverde has become one of the best references for bird watching throughout the year in Costa Rica, especially between the months of April and June, months of nesting season for unique species of the cloud forest such as the Quetzal and which also coincides with the migration season of the famous Bellbird. There are many people passionate about bird watching, it is estimated that between 20% and 30% of tourists who enter the country by air carry out at least one bird watching activity during their stay in the country.

Monteverde has a record of almost 600 species of birds out of the 935 species that exist in the country for 2024, which represent approximately 10% of the endemic birds in the country. When we talk about endemism, we refer to a species whose geographic range is limited. Endemic animals and plants, whose vulnerability is enormous due to having smaller populations, are key to their ecosystems. (ICT/n.d.). Due to the very nature of the attractions and the general atmosphere of the area, the activities that are developed around the natural history of the Site.

Something very important is the topography of the area that goes from 800 m.a.s.l. to 1850 m.a.s.l. which allows us to see species at different elevations that are unique to the different microclimates present in the area.
