THE FOREST THAT AWAKENS
Night Walk Experience with Infrared Vision
When darkness falls, the forest does not go to sleep. It transforms.
Duration: 2 hours
Recommended Schedule: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (may vary seasonally)
Location: Wildlife Refuge – Los Camacho Wildlife Refuge, Monteverde, Costa Rica
Discover the world that awakens after sunset
For many people, darkness represents the end of activity. In tropical forests, however, the opposite is true.
As daylight fades, thousands of species begin their daily routines. Insects, amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and nocturnal birds participate in a complex network of interactions that sustains the balance of the ecosystem. In fact, a significant portion of tropical biodiversity is active at night.
This experience invites you to discover that hidden world and understand how the forest functions when humans can no longer rely on sight alone.
A Different Kind of Night Walk
Unlike a traditional wildlife night tour, this experience combines wildlife observation, environmental interpretation, and infrared technology to provide a deeper understanding of nature.
Using specialized infrared vision devices, we can observe wildlife without disrupting natural behavior, reducing the need for direct light and encouraging a more respectful interaction with the ecosystem.
Throughout the walk, you will learn about:
- Extraordinary nocturnal adaptations.
- Survival strategies in darkness.
- Communication through sounds, vibrations, and signals beyond human perception.
- Ecological relationships that sustain the forest.
- The critical role of nighttime in tropical biodiversity.
What You May Encounter
Every night is different, and every walk is unique.
Depending on conditions, we may observe:
- Frogs and amphibians.
- Leaf insects and stick insects.
- Beetles and moths.
- Bats.
- Sloths.
- Kinkajous.
- Opossums.
- Porcupines.
- Owls and other nocturnal birds.
- Snakes and other species adapted to darkness.
A Regenerative Approach
We believe that understanding leads to respect.
This experience is not simply about finding animals. It is about understanding the invisible processes that allow the forest to function night after night.
The use of infrared technology minimizes disturbance to wildlife and promotes a more ethical and responsible form of observation. In addition, this experience supports local conservation and regenerative tourism initiatives.
A Moment to Perceive
Before concluding the experience, we will invite you to participate in a brief moment of silence and reflection.
No lights.
No photographs.
No conversations.
Just the sounds of the forest functioning on its own.
Because some things do not need light to be seen.
They simply need to be perceived.
